My Papaw absolutely LOVED this sketch! Sandrea Brasher

via Facebook

It is with a very heavy heart that I ask for your prayers today, beautiful Facebook Family. My PaPaw (grandfather/dad's father) passed away in his home about 5 pm Alabama time. He was the senior pastor at Haleyville Church of God for more than 40 years and was a full-time pastor in the Church of God for almost 60 years (I believe). Above that, first and foremost he was a husband, father to 5 children the oldest of which was my father, and grandfather to 10 of which I was the oldest (by 2 weeks ;} ) and great-grandfather to 10 (hopefully I didn't miss any). I'll always remember having the honor of reading the Christmas Story every year and was so honored the day he asked me to say the dinner blessing, that was normally reserved for him or my dad! Everybody loved my Papaw. He was a pilar in their community always visiting people at the hospital even those who didn't attend his church. He loved praying for people and telling them about God's love and what Jesus had done for them. When we had a death in the family I recall everyone in the community pulling together to donate their time & services simply because it was for my Papaw! That's the kind of man he was, he always gave of himself for everyone else. I wish I can be just like him when I grow up! Tonight I'm having a saltine cracker, pickle and cheese and watching the news with you, Papaw! Love you! (Ps, anybody have any cheddar?? I am waiting to hear arrangements but in the mean time, I could really use your prayers! I was fairly close to my dad's parents as we would see them at least 3 times a year for holidays. With my Granny's passing 2 months ago, this is really hard. Thank you for your prayers!! Love you all! *my profile picture was taken at Christmas this past year, the last time I was able to see him.

10 years ago today this crazy group of young adults moved to Mexico to start the wild ride called DTS with YWAM San Diego/Baja. we were dubbed #thebestdtsever by every teacher we had, including Peter Iliyn & Dean Sherman. We were the largest school that #ywamsdb had up to that point and were told that we would split for outreach. This picture was taken in front of the Guatemala City YWAM Base where we spent half of our outreach serving together as one large group! While we had many challenges we also had a ton of success. Half of my fellow students are serving in full-time ministry including the 4 of us still serving with YWAMSDB. The others are serving the Lord through the 7 Spheres of Influence. I am forever grateful for my leaders, staff, YWAM's leadership, and students for this life-changing school. Who wants to do a #DTSreunion in Ensenada?

Announcements & Agenda for Friday morning, September 23: 1. All the students & schools staff will be heading to Ensenada to join up with the Music & Missions DTS on Wednesday. 2. Janet shared abt our teams. When our guests arrive, we bless them by allowing them to go in the meal line first. One of the things God has called us to do is impact the community with the teams that come to build. Some teams don't know Jesus so we are called as a community is to love them as Jesus loves us. Sit with them at meals, ask them where they are from, etc. We are like a heart, our community expands and contracts in size. We also have a few teams called Deluxe, they pay more to have more. We serve more cause we serve Jesus through that. Those teams eat meals separately and often have different things. We don't love them more! The heart of the leadership & hospitality team is that everyone who steps foot on our campus feels loved & welcomed. Now as a part of our family, the students are responsible to help welcome & love on our guests. The goal for the end of their time here is that we would be closer to Jesus. We never stop learning new things! 3. We ask that you treat this campus as your home. If you have trash, where does it go? Trash can. Should you leave a mug on the stage? NO! Pick up after yourself & if you walk by trash, pick it up! We look like a 5 star resort but we don't have 4. School student & staff party tonight at April's house. Schools are leaving at different times so staff will let you know when to meet. Bring a sweatshirt tonight as it will get cold. 5. Titus meet with Berkeley now! 6. DTS & SBSC & Titus will meet at 9:50 in the Defender. ******************************** John was reminded what a joy it is to be in the presence of God in worship. Welcome to our new students! Every week we meet on Tuesday morning, Wednesday evening & Friday mornings. It is a time for all of our students, staff, volunteers, etc to gather together to worship corporately & hear from God. This morning we took some time to pray over the students. Last night our students were introduced with their name & where they were from but now we want to pray for them as we start our school year off. We started with the Titus participants and SBS-C students. Then prayed for DTS students. Some of the students shared: a DTS student, Chelsi, shared that they had been healed recently & the person who prayed got the word "restoration" & she felt that God was using this time to restore her life. Louisa shared some encouragement to be fully engaged in what the students are doing right now! Don't look forward to what will happen because God is right now in the present so be with Him now! Bruno shared that as he was praying for the students to put forth your whole heart. Put away your preconceptions of the God, the Bible, etc and your family and home, etc. Allow God to do what He wants in your life. It's good to have expectations but allow Him to work. Also, schools are NEVER abt $$$, it's about Jesus!! Don't worry abt the $$$, focus on Jesus, everything will flow!

Made it back safe & sound after driving for 2 days from #Loreto to #Tijuana! Had such an incredible time celebrating all that God has done in the last 25 years through YWAM San Diego/Baja because Sean & Janet Izzett Lambert and their girls (Rachel, Andrea & Tiffany) said yes and were obedient when God said GO! Thank you to the Lambert family, YWAMSDB leadership, and this who financially gave towards this week! I am so very grateful to have found you all 10 years ago and am excited to be a part of the next 25 years. I am walking daily in my personal calling because of your obedience. #celebrando #ywamsdb #ywamfamily #YWAM #missions #ywamsdb25thanniversary #YWAM
