Happy birthday to this adorkable little girl. I can't believe that she's 9! I remember getting a message on my phone during my #DTS in Ensenada, Mexico that this little light decided she didn't want to be born on Halloween, her scheduled birthday, but instead wanted to come on her own terms! She's been doing things on her own terms ever since! Her entire life, I've been a missionary & have watched her grow through technology & occasional visits into a beautiful, kind, compassionate, loving, sassy, divalicious young lady! She is always doing for others & looking for ways to include people and make them feel happy. Kaylee Grace, I'm so proud of you and the peacemaker that you are. I love you & hope you have an incredible day today! See you soon!

While I am no where near this area, there are many who will be impacted. For those who remember Katrina and the affect it had for years to come in the Southeast, imagine that times 100 because these families will not all have access to the amazing resources that we did & still do. Pray for the families, the government, the neighboring countries and the guests in the path of this storm. Even though we are so far north, we are getting crazy amounts of winds today and I can only imagine that it is from this storm. #prayforMexico #oraporMexico #creemosenti

Last weekend Homes of Hope built a house for a single father who lost his wife to cancer and now has three children to care of on his own. Here is what he said, "I was struggling with nightmares of losing my children or even my own life and I didn't have much hope left. It was in that dark moment when God showed himself in my life and I came to know him. I'm so ready to see my children with a better place to live. I've done all I can do but I'm afraid it's just not enough for what they need. I've been stuggling but when I heard you were coming, I knew that the Lord had heard my cries. Thank you so much, as the father of my family I am very grateful for your lives and what you've decided to do for us. God Bless." #jucumsdb

"ENFP: Suggester - Everything is possible. You are full of passion and imagination. Life for you is full of possibilities. You can quickly find connections among all kinds of information and matters and handle things confidently according to the patterns you find. You are eager to get validation from other people and also you are quite generous about your praise and support of other people. You are very casual and flexible. You are gifted with a rare eloquence and the ability of improvisation." Sounds about right!! Lindsay, David

Many of you may have read or heard this but for those who didn't, my dog, Lil Missy passed away this morning. She was a super spicy Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix & totally looked like a lion wearing a skirt! We got her back in 2003 when she was just 6 weeks old and she was so tiny we would lose her in the house under furniture & we had to watch carefully where we walked. She was vivacious & loved people, especially her friends she met when getting the mail with mom. That changed when we got her fixed. She became very ornery and very territorial with anyone she was sitting with. I taught her how to apologize when she went too far and love bites became actual bites. She always came back to lick/kiss it all better! She was very well love and we will miss her tremendously! My visits home won't be the same! Please pray for my family back home as they have to deal with the absence much more concretely than I, especially my mom & my tender-hearted niece! And if you think about it, send up a prayer for me as my grieving will take a little longer since I'm not faced with the immediate reminders. #furryfriends #furbabies #lilmissy

I'll take it!! I agree that I am too ambitious & sometimes take on WAY more than I should but I enjoy the challenge; I'm a problem solver & hole-filler. I love my life and I wouldn't trade it for anything! #missionarylife #preschoolteacherlife #administrator #teacher #apostolicgifting #rightandleftbrain #extrovertandintrovert #logicandcreative

If you live in Birmingham and you love Rick Burgess from the Rick & Bubba Show, head on over to Metro Church just off 459 at Acton Road on October 18. Rick will be speaking at the 10AM service and then join us that night at 6PM for a special service, "Passing the Torch", presenting ideas to help with the difficulties parents are facing. Pass it along and bring a friend.

My mind has seriously just been BLOWN!!! The musical, "Shortstops" that we did at Metro when I was in middle school, was co-written by none other than Alan Robertson, aka Alan Root, the guy who wrote/sang the awesome orange tape "Backwards In The Back" with fun songs like "Ronzo", "Backwards In The Back", "Chicken Soup", "Sounds Like a Dino", "This Is My Father's World" etc. He came to Metro & did a concert back in the day. I still listen to this tape with my niece & nephew when I'm home! O M G!!!!!!!!!! Love BOTH of these childhood memories!! #mindblown #childhood #memories #churchkid
